SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE INDIANAPOLIS INDIANA 205 PM EST MON JUN 19 1989 STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WERE PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAIN AND SMALL HAIL OVER NORTHCENTRAL INDIANA AT 200 PM EST. THE STRONGEST STORMS WERE FROM LOGANSPORT TO DENVER TO NORTH MANCHESTER...OR 20 MILES NORTHWEST TO 30 MILES NORTHEAST OF KOKOMO. THE MIAMI COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT REPORTED VERY SMALL HAIL 6 MILES NORTH OF DENVER. LOW LAND FLOODING AND WATER ON ROADS WAS ALSO ALSO OBSERVED BY STATE POLICE AND THE COUNTY SHERIFF IN NORTHERN MIAMI COUNTY. DRIVE WITH CAUTION IN THUNDERSTORMS. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THROUGH HIGH WATER. VERY HEAVY RAIN WILL ALSO REDUCE VISIBILITY. OTHER SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE SCATTERED THROUGHOUT INDIANA. STORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN WERE 10 MILES SOUTHEAST OF LAFAYETTE...AND NEAR GUION...JUST SOUTH OF SHADES AND TURKEY RUN STATE PARKS IN WEST CENTRAL INDIANA. THE PRECIPITAION WAS MOVING KVERY SLOWLY TO THE NORTH-NORTHEAST AT AROUND 10 TO 15 MPH. THE STRONGEST STORMS WERE 10 MILES NORTHWEST OF LOGANSPORT...NEAR ROYAL CENTER... AND AT FOWLER...30 MILES NORTHWEST OF LAFAYETTE. OTHER STRONG STORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN WERE AROUND 40 MILES WEST OF INDIANAPOLIS FROM CECIL HARDEN LAKE TO RUSSELLVILLE TO LADOGA. THUNDERSTORMS WERE ALSO 40 MILES EAST OF INDIANAPOLIS FROM SHELBYVILLE TO RUSHVILLE TO NEW CASTLE. A LARGE BAND OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WAS FROM LAFAYETTE TO MONTICELLO TO ROCHESTER. THE PRECIPITATION WAS MOVING VERY SLOWLY NORTHWEST AT ABOUT 10 MPH. REPORT HAIL PENNEY SIZE OR LARGER...OR FLOODING TO THE NEAREST LAW ENFORCEMENT AGAENCY FOR RELAY TO THE NATIONAL WEATER SERVICE.
