SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE INDIANAPOLIS INDIANA 245 PM EST TUE MAR 14 1989 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CONTINUES TO MONITOR THE POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE WEATHER ACROSS INDIANA. VERY MILD AND INCREASINGLY MORE HUMID AIR WAS STREAMING INTO THE STATE ON GUSTY SOUTH WINDS. AT THE SAME TIME A COLD FRONT WAS MOVING QUICKLY THROUGH CENTRAL MISSOURI. AS THIS COLD AIR CUTS INTO THE MILD AIR NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP. THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD DEVELOP IN ILLINOIS BETWEEN 3 AND 4PM EST. THESE STORMS ARE LIKELY TO RACE RAPIDLY EAST AND NORTHEAST. PERSONS IN INDIANA SHOULD BE ALERT FOR THE POTENTIAL OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. EDWARDS
