THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  400 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY...
 
IN NORTH DELAWARE
          ...NEW CASTLE
 
RUNOFF FROM THE INTENSE RAINFALL OF TWO TO THREE INCHES THIS MORNING
IN THE ELKTON...NEWARK AREA IS CONTINUING TO CAUSE FLASH FLOODING ON
THE CHRISTINA RIVER IN DELAWARE.
 
RIVER STAGE AT COOCHES BRIDGE DELAWARE SHOULD CREST AT OR SLIGHTLY
BELOW 11.5 FEET BY 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON.  HOWEVER WATER SHOULD REMAIN
ABOVE THE FLOOD STAGE OF 9.0 FEET UNTIL ABOUT 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON.
 
SECTIONS OF THE CHRISTINA RIVER WILL NOT FALL SIGNIFICANTLY UNTIL
AFTER HIGH TIDE ON THE DELAWARE RIVER AT 4 PM BECAUSE OF TIDAL
INFLUENCES.
 
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE6 WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
