NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DES MOINES IA
950 AM CDT MON APR 24 1989

AT 930 AM...A VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORM HAD DEVELOPED OVER NORTHWEST
IOWA NEAR CHEROKEE...40 MILES NORTHEST OF SIOUX CITY.  PEA TO MARBLE
SIZE HAIL HAS BEEN REPORTED WITH THIS STORM IN THE COMMUNITY OF
CHEROKEE.  HEAVY RAINS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE WITH THIS STORM.  THIS STORM
WAS PART OF A SYSTEM OF SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS AND SHOWERS OVER
NORTHWEST...NORTH CENTRAL...AND NORTHEAST IOWA.  MOST OF THE SHOWERS
WERE NORTH OF A CHEROKEE TO MASON CITY LINE.

THE STRONG STORM WAS MOVING NORTHEAST AT 10 MILES AN HOUR WHILE THE
SHOWERS WERE MOVING EAST AT 10 MILES AN HOUR.
