SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MONTGOMERY AL 650 AM CDT SUN OCT 1 1989 AT 640 AM CDT RADAR SHOWED THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN MIXED IN A WIDESPREAD AREA OF MOSTLY LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN OVER SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST ALABAMA. THE THUNDERSTORMS WITH THE HEAVY RAIN WERE OVER ELMORE...LOWNDES AND MACON COUNTIES. MOVEMENT WAS NORTH AT AROUND 35 MPH. POSSIBLE LOCALIZED FLOODING MAY OCCUR IN SOME OF THESE AREAS AS RAINFXALL AMOUNTS OF ONE TO TWO INCHES HAVE FALLEN IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME...ESPECIALLY IN TALLAPOOSA AND ELMORE COUNTIES.
