SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LAS VEGAS, NV 107 PM PDT FRI AUG 26 1988 ...SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING OVER SOUTHERN NEVADA... THE LAS VEGAS WEATHER RADAR SHOWED SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING OVER LINCOLN...NYE AND CLARK COUNTIES OF SOUTHERN NEVADA AND SAN BERN- ADINO COUNTIES OF SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA. THE HEAVIEST THUNDERSTORMS WERE IN THE MOUNT CHARLESTON AREA WHERE SOME LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN AND HAIL MAYBE OCCURING. THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH- EAST AT 10 MPH. THESE THUNDERSTORMS MAY PRODUCE LOCAL AREAS OF HEAVY RAIN...DANGEROUS LIGHTNING...HAIL AND STRONG GUSTY WINDS WITH AREAS OF BLOWING DUST AND SAND. LOCAL FLOODING OF WASHES CAN OCCUR NEAR AREAS OF HEAVY RAIN AND MOTORIST ARE REMINDED NOT TO DRIVE ON ROADS COVERED BY WATER. PERSONS ENGAGED IN OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES ARE URGED TO USE CAUTION THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING AND BE ALERT TO RAPIDLY CHANGING WEATHER CONDITIONS.
