844 PM EST FRI AUG 5 1988

AT 840 PM EST RADAR SHOWED THAT A VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORM WAS LOCATED
ABOUT 10 MILES NORTHWEST OF LAFAYATTE.  THIS STORM MAY PRODUCE STRONG
GUSTY WINDS...SMALL HAIL AND VERY HEAVY RAINS.  THE AREA AFFECTED BY
THIS STORM BE NEAR AND JUST TO THE NORTH OF LAFAYATTE.

ELSEWHERE...THUNDERSTORMS WERE ALSO LOCATED ABOUT 25 MILES SOUTH OF
SOUTH BEND AND ABOUT 20 MILES SOUTHWEST OF TERRE HAUTE.  A LARGE AREA OF
SHOWERS WAS OCCURRING OVER MUCH OF SOUTHEAST AND EAST CENTRAL
ILLINOIS.

THE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING EAST AT 25 MPH.
