A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS INDICATED BY THE RADAR AT 315 PM 10 MILES
NORTH OF MT. ORAB, OHIO. THE THUNDERSTORM WAS MOVING TO THE NORTH EAST
20 MPH. TREES WERE REPORTED DOWN SOUTH OF MT ORAB BY THE OHIO STATE
POLICE AT 310 PM.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CINCINNATI OH 1240 PM EDT FRI AUG 5 1988 THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN SPREADING INTO SOUTHEAST INDIANA. AT 1235 PM THE RADAR INDICATED A CLUSTER OF IN THE SOUTHEAST INDIANA COUNTIES OF RIPLEY AND DECATUR. THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE PRODUCING BRIEF HEAVY RAIN AND GUSTY WINDS. SOME SMALL HAIL IS LIKELY IN THE THUNDERSTORMS THAT WILL PASS THROUGH THE BATESVILLE INDIANA AREA AROUND 1 PM. THE THUNDERSTORMS ARE PART OF A GENERAL PATTERN OF SHOWERS AND THUNDER STORMS OVER SOUTHEAST INDIANA AND NORTHWEST KENTUCKY. THE THUNDERSTORMS EXTEND INTO KENTUCKY SOUTH OF LOUISVILLE TO ELIZABETHTOWN. THESE STORMS WERE ALSO MOVING TO THE NORTHEAST 20 MPH. END JR
