000 TTAA00 KBUF 252147 SVRBUF NYC063-073-252145- BULLETIN IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BUFFALO NY 545 PM EDT SAT JUN 25 1988 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 700 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES IN WESTERN NEW YORK...NIAGARA...ORLEANS AND ADJACENT WATERS OF LAKE ONTARIO AT 545 PM BUFFALO WEATHER RADAR DETECTED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER LAKE ONTARIO NEAR WILSON AND ANOTHER WAS JUST NORTH OF ORLEANS COUNTY. THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 45 MPH AND SHOULD MOVE INTO THE WARNERD COUNTIES SHORTLY. THE THUNDERSTORMS HAVE SHOWN AN INDICATION OF HAVING HAIL DURING THE PAST HOUR. BE ON THE ALERT FOR THUNDERSTORMS ACCOMPANIED BY FREQUENT LIGHTNING.. STRONG DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL. LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN MAY ALSO CAUSE DRAINAGE FLOODING. AT 530 PM...BUFFALO RADAR DETECTED A LINE OF VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE WESTERN HALF OF LAKE ONTARIO...AND ANOTHER LINE OF VERY STRONG STORMS OVER THE NIAGARA PENNISULA OF ONTARIO...FROM DUNNVILLE WESTWARD TO JUST SOUTH OF LONDON. BOTH THESE LINES OF THUNDERSTORMS HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR HAIL...STRONG GUSTY WINDS...DANGEROUS LIGHTNING...AND VERY HEAVY RAIN.
