SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CONCORDIA KS 655 PM CDT WED JUN 24 1987 A TORNADO WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR MUCH OF NORTHERN AND CENTRAL KANSAS UNTIL MIDNIGHT. AT 650 PM CDT A WIND SHIFT LINE WAS MOVING SOUTHEAST ACROSS NORTH/ CENTRAL KANSAS. THE LINE WAS FROM OSBORNE NORTHEAT TO 5 MILES WEST OF MANKATO TO HEBRON IN SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA. THE LINE IS CAUSING WIND GUSTS OF 50 TO NEAR 60 MILES AN HOUR. THE LINE IS MOVING SOUTH EAST AT 25 MPH. AT 6 50 PM CDT A LINE OF STRONG TO INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS WAS SOME 5 TO 10 MILES NORTHWEST OF THE WIND SHIFT LINE. THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE PRODUCING HEAVY RAINS..WIND GUSTS 40 TO 50 MPH...PEA TO MARBLE SIZE HAIL AND DANGEROUtS LIGHTNING. THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING EAST AT 25 MILES AN HOUR. SCHNEIDER
