SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLORADO SPRINGS CO 225 PM MDT WED JUN 24 1987 ...A TORNADO WATCH FOR MUCH OF EAST COLORADO UNTIL 800 PM... AT 215 PM THIS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR AT LIMON COLORADO SHOWS THUNDERSTORMS ABOUT 15 MILES SOUTH OF COLORADO SPRINGS AND NEAR THE TOWN OF CALHAN IN EXTREME NORTHEAST EL PASO COUNTY COLORADO ABOUT 40 MILES NORTHEAST OF COLORADO SPRINGS. THESE THUNDERSTORMS ARE MOVING TOWARD THE EAST AT ABOUT 15 MPH AND WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY HEAVY RAIN...HAIL AND STRONG GUSTY WIND. ALL PERSONS SHOULD BE WATCHFUL THIS AFTERNOON FOR SEVERE WEATHER. LIGHTNING AND TORNADO SAFETY RULES SHOULD BE REVIEWED BEFORE YOU NEED TO USE THEM. MOTORISTS SHOULD BE CAUTIOUS WHEN DRIVING THROUGH HEAVY RAIN AND HAIL AS ROADWAYS MAY BECOME VERY SLIPPERY.
