000 TTAA00 KPIT 131847 SVRPIT PAC111-021-131945- BULLETIN BROADCAST IMMEDIATELY SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PITTSBURGH PA 245PM EDT SAT JUN 13 1987 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING UNTIL 345PM FOR THESE COUNTIES IN WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA...CAMBRIA AND SOMERSET. AT 240PM WEATHER RADAR SHOWED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM ALONG CHESTNUT RIDGE IN EASTERN WESTMORELAND COUNTY MOVING EASTWARD. THIS STORM WILL AFFECT MAINLY NORTHERN SOMERSET AND SOUTHERN CAMBRIA COUNTIES. HEAVY DOWNPOURS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS STORM MAY CAUSE STREET AND POOR DRAINAGE FLOODING ALONG WITH GUSTY WINDS AND HAIL. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING MEANS SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE IM MINENT OR IN PROGRESS. DANGEROUS LIGHTNING STRIKES ARE ALSO POSSIBLE WITH THIS STORM. SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PITTSBURGH, PA 137 PM EDT SAT JUN 13 1987 ...HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING ACROSS WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA... AT 130PM WEATHER RADAR SHOWED A LINE OF VERY HEAVY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS STRECHING FROM EASTERN ALLEGHENY COUNTY EASTWARD THROUGH THE LAUREL HIGHLANDS TO BEDFORD AND FULTON COUNTIES. SOME OF THESE STORMS HAVE ALREADY PRODUCE SMALL HAIL...HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING STRIKES IN PORTIONS OF WESTMORELAND...CAMBRIA SOMERSET AND BEDFORD COUNTIES. ACROSS NORTHERN PENNSYLVANIA SHOWERS AND VERY HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS ARE LOCATED ACROSS THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS IN MCKEAN...POTTER...ELK AND CAMERON COUNTIES AND PORTIONS OF CRWAFORD AND WARREN COUNTIES IN THE NORTHWEST. A VERY HEAVY THUNDERSTORM WILL MOVE ACROSS ELK COUNTY NEAR 2PM. COVERAGE CONTINUES TO INCREASE WHILE INTENSITIES REMAIN UNCHANGED. ALL SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE MOVING EASTWARD AT AROUND 30 MILES AN HOUR. DURING THE REMAINDER OF THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING VERY HEAVY THUDERSTORMS CAN PRODUCE HEAVY DOWNPOURS THAT MAY CAUSE LOWLAND AND POOR DRAINAGE FLOODING. ALSO SMALL HAIL...POWER OUTAGES FROM DANGEROUS LIGHTING STRIKES AND WINDS POSSIBLY GUSTING NEAR 45 MILES AND HOUR ARE POSSIBLE IN SOME OF THESE STORMS. DM/DS
