SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI FL 1223 AM EDT THU OCT 1 1987 AT 1215 AM RADAR INDICATED AN INTENSE THUNDERSTORM ABOUT 20 MILES WEST OF FORT LAUDERDALE NEAR HIGHWAY 27. THIS THUNDERSTORM WAS MOVING EAST AND SHOULD CROSS THE FORT LAUDERDALE TO POMPANO BEACH AREA BY 100 AM. RESIDENTS AND MOTORISTS CAN EXPECT WIND GUSTS TO 30 TO 40 MPH AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES IN HEAVY RAIN. ANOTHER INTENSE THUNDERSTORM WAS LOCATED IN NORTHEAST FLORIDA BAY AND THE UPPER KEYS NEAR KEY LARGO. THIS STORM SHOULD MOVE OUT OF THIS AREA INTO THE ATLANTIC ALSO BY 100 AM. BOATERS IN BOTH DADE AND BROWARD COASTAL WATERS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR GUSTY WINDS AND LOCALLY ROUGH SEAS AS THESE STORMS MOVE INTO THE COASTAL WATERS OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS.
