SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT AND RADAR SUMMARY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MEMPHIS TN 730 PM CST MON DEC 14 1987 ...TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 563 REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM CST... AT 730 PM SCATTERED VERY HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUED OVER EASTERN ARKANSAS. THE HEAVIEST STORMS WERE FROM JUST WEST OF HELENA TO WEST OF FORREST CITY THROUGH THE SERCY AREA TO NEAR HEBER SPRINGS. ISOLATED VERY HEAVY STORMS WERE IN NORTHWEST TENNESSEE DYERSBURG AND NORTHEAST ARKANSAS NEAR BLYTHEVILLE. SMALL HAIL..HEAVY RAINS AND STRONG GUSTY WINDS HAVE BEEN REPORTED WITH THE STORMS IN ARKANSAS. THESE STORMS WERE LOCATED WITH SCATTERED RAIN OVER MUCH OF THE MIDSOUTH BUT THE RAIN HAD ENDED OVER THE MEMPHIS AREA FOR THE PRESENT TIME. TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 563 CONTINUES TO BE IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM THIS MONDAY EVENING FOR ALL OF EAST ARKANSAS. TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 562 ALSO REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM FOR PARTS OF CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI..SOUTHERN ARKANSAS AND NORTH LOUISIANA REMEMBER THAT A TORNADO WATCH MEANS THAT TORNADOES ARE POSSIBLE IN AND NEAR THE WATCH AREA AND PERSONS IN THIS AREA SHOULD REMAIN ALERT TO RAPIDLY CHANGING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE COVER IMMEDIATELY IF CONDITIONS WARRANT.
