000 TTAA00 KBFF 240113 SVRVTN NEC031-240215- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE VALENTINE NE ISSUED BY SCOTTSBLUFF NE 713 PM MDT THU JUL 23 1987 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 815 PM MDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES OF NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA...EASTERN CHERRY AND THE CITY OF VALENTINE AT 811 PM CDT RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM 15 TO 20 MILES SOUTHWEST OF VALENTINE NEBRASKA IN NORTHCENTRAL NEBRASKA. THE STORM WAS MOVING TO THE EAST AT 10 TO 15 MPH. THESE STORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE A TORNADO WITH LITTLE OR NO WARNING...SO BE ON THE LOOKOUT. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE LARGE HAIL...GREATER THAN 3/4 INCH IN DIAMETER...DAMAGING WINDS AND VERY HEAVY RAINS THAT CAN QUICKLY FLOOD A LOW LYING AREA. THE STRONGEST THUNDERSTORM WAS LOCATED ABOUT 4 MILES NORTH OF BENKELMAN OR ABOUT 45 MILES NORTH OF GOODLAND KANSAS. BRIEF HEAVY RAIN AND GUSTY WINDS MAY ACCOMPANY THIS THUNDERSTORM. SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NORTH PLATTE NE 730 PM CDT THU JUL 23 1987 AT 730 PM CDT THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE TO DEVELOP AND INTENSIFY ACROSS SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA. A BROKEN LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDS NORTHEAST FROM SOUTHWEST DUNDY COUNTY ABOUT 30 MILES SOUTHWEST OF MCCOOK ACROSS HITCHCOCK COUNTY AND HAYES COUNTY TO EXTREME SOUTHWEST LINCOLN COUNTY ABOUT 25 MILES SOUTHWEST OF NORTH PLATTE. THE MOST INTENSE THUNDERSTORM WAS LOCATED IN HAYES COUNTY JUST SOUTH OF HAYES CENTER. THIS WOULD BE ABOUT 26 MILES NORTHWEST OF MCCOOK. THIS THUNDERSTORM MAY PRODUCE SMALL HAIL ALONG WITH BRIEF HEAVY RAIN AND WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MILES AN HOUR.
