SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON MS 625 AM CST MON NOV 16 1987 AN INTENSE STORM SYSTEM WILL BE AFFECTING MISSISSIPPI TODAY AND TONIGHT. THE THREAT OF SEVERE WEATHER WILL BE WITH US UNTIL TUESDAY MORNING. THE WIND AHEAD OF THIS SYSTEM WILL BE VERY STRONG AND GUSTY. THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED WILL BE 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS OVER 40 MPH. ANYONE PLANNING TO VISIT LOCAL LAKES SHOULD BE ADVISED THAT WIND OF THIS MAGNITUDE COULD BE DANGEROUS. CONSEQUENTLY...A WIND ADVISORY HAS BEEN POSTED FOR AREA LAKES TODAY. HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS HAVE ALREADY MOVED INTO THE WESTERN COUNTIES AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE DAY. RAIN WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MA!Y BE NEEDED FOR PARTS OF THE STATE LATE TODAY. ANYONE LIVING IN FLOOD PRONE AREAS SHOULD KEEP AN EYE ON THE WATER AND LISTEN FOR FURTHER STATEMENTS OR POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON MS 800 AM CST MON NOV 16 1987 THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE TO SPREAD INTO MISSISSIPPI. AT 755 AM CST A LINE OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDED ACROSS WEST CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI FROM NEAER KOSCUISKO TO MADISON TO UTICA. THIS LINE OF THUNDERSTORM IS MOVING TO THE SOUTHEAAST AT AROUND 15 MPH AND WILL MOVE INTO THE JACKSON METROPOLITIAN AREA WITHIN THE NEXT HALF HOUR. THIS LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY VERY HEAVY RAIN... STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING. SOME FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS AND UNDERPASSES IS ALSO POSSIBLE...AND EARLY MORNING MOTORISTS ARE URGED TO DRIVE WITH CAUTION. ADDITIONAL ST8ATEMENTS WILL BE ISSUED AS CONDITIONS WARRANT.
