000 TTAA00 KEVV 032139 SVREVV KYC101-225-032230- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE EVANSVILLE IN 439 PM CDT MON AUG 3 1987 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 530 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES OF NORTHWEST KENTUCKY...HENDERSON AND UNION AT 436 PM CDT SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WERE INDICATED BY RADAR ALONG THE OHIO RIVER IN UNION AND HENDERSON COUNTIES IN KENTUCKY. THEY WERE MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 25 MPH. IF YOU ARE IN AN AREA THREATENED BY THE STORM..GO TO A REINFORECED SHELTER AND PREPARE FOR DAMAGING WIND...LARGE HAIL...VERY HEAVY RAIN AND LIGHTNING. THE COMBINATION OF TEMPERATURES WELL UP INTO THE 90S ALONG WITH HIGH HUMIDITIES WILL PUSH THE HEAT INDEX TO VALUES FROM 105 TO 115 DEGREES THIS AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM THE MID 90S IN MOST AREAS OF THE STATE TO NEAR 100 IN THE SOUTHWEST PART OF THE STATE. HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL RANGE FROM AROUND 105 DEGREES IN MOST AREAS TO NEAR 115 DEGREES IN THE SOUTHWEST. THE HEAT INDEX TAKES INTO ACCOUNT BOTH THE TEMPERATURE AND THE HUMIDITY. IT CAN BE THOUGHT OF AS THE APPARENT TEMPERATURE...OR WHAT IT FEELS LIKE THE TEMPERATURE IS.
