SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBUS OH 513 PM EDT SAT MAY 2 1987 STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WERE BUILDING IN MUCH OF OHIO THIS AFTERNOON. AT 310 PM EDT COLUMBUS WEATHER RADAR INDICATED NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS HAD DEVELOPED OR INCREASED OVER MANY SECTIONS OF THE STATE WITHIN THE LAST HOUR AND A HALF. THE HEAVIEST STORMS WERE IN NORTH CENTRAL AND WEST CENTRAL OHIO AND WERE APPROACHING MADISON... UNION... AND MARION COUNTIES OF CENTRAL OHIO. THE STORMS WERE MOVING EAST AT 20 MPH. HEAVY DOWNPOURS ALONG WITH THE SLOW MOVEMENT OF THE STORMS MAY CAUSE SOME TEMPORARY BACKUP OF WATER IN STORM DRAINS. FENBERS
