SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN ANTONIO TX 453 PM CDT MON SEP 7 1987 ...THUNDERSTORMS MOVING INTO THE SAN ANTONIO METROPLEX... AN AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS THAT FORMED EARLIER THIS AFTERNOON OVER THE HILL COUNTRY HAS CONTINUED A SOUTHEASTWARD TRACK TOWARD THE SAN ANTONIO METROPLEX. THE ACTIVITY WAS LOCATED FROM NEAR NEW BRAUNFELS WESTWARD ACROSS BOERNE AND BANDERA TO NEAR LEAKEY. OTHER WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE INDICATED OVER THE NORTHERN PORTION OF THE HILL COUNTRY BETWEEN LLANO...JUNCTION AND SONORA. ALL ACTIVITY WAS MOVING TO THE SOUTHEAST AT NEAR 15 MILES AN HOUR. IF THE PRESENT MOVEMENT CONTINUES...THE STORMS SHOULD ENTER THE SAN ANTONIO METROPLEX BETWEEN 530 PM AND 600 PM THIS EVENING. BRIEF HEAVY RAINFALL AND WINDS GUSTING TO 30 TO 35 MILES AN HOUR ARE EXPECTED IN THE THUNDERSTORMS. FREQUENT LIGHTNING IS ALSO LIKELY IN THE ACTIVITY.
