SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE YOUNGSTOWN OH 1250 PM EDT THU MAY 28 1987 AT 1245 PM RADAR INDICATED THAT A SMALL AREA OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS HAD DEVELOPED OVER EXTREME NORTHERN TRUMBULL COUNTY NEAR MESAPOTAMIA OHIO. THESE THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPED RAPIDLY AND LIKELY CONTAIN VERY HEAVY RAIN THAT WILL TEMPORARILY REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO NEAR ZERO AND CAUSE TEMPORARY STREET FLOODING. IN ADDITION..THESE STORMS WILL PRODUCE GUSTY WINDS AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING. THE STORMS WERE MOVING SLOWLY EAST AND WILL MOVE INTO NORTHERN MERCER COUNTY NORTH OF GREENVILLE PENNSYLVANIA BY 115 PM. OHIO STATE PATROL REPORTS THAT THESE STORMS HAVE PRODUCED EXTREMELY HEAVY RAIN AND SMALL HAIL AS THEY MOVED OVER THE MECCA OHIO AREA. FREQUENT LIGHTNING HAS ALSO BEEN REPORTED. THE HEAVY RAIN WILL TEMPORARILY REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO NEAR ZERO AND CAUSE STREET FLOODING..SO DRIVING PROBLEMS WILL EXIST. AT 145 PM CLEVELAND WEATHER RADAR SHOWED A VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORM OVER CENTRAL LORAIN COUNTY. THIS STORM WAS MOVING SLOWLY EAST TO NORTHEAST AT 15 MPH AND WILL MOVE INTO WESTERN CUYAHOGA COUNTY AROUND 245 PM. HEAVY RAIN AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING HAVE BEEN REPORTED IN OBERLIN.
