THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD
WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 600 PM MDT FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES IN
NEW MEXICO...MCKINLEY

SCATTERED THUNDERSHOWERS HAVE BEEN OCCURING IN THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF
NEW MEXICO THIS AFTERNOON AND A RAINFALL OBSERVER 5 MILES NORTHEAST
OF THOREAU IN MCKINLEY COUNTY REPORTED THAT 1.55 INCHES OF RAIN FELL
IN ABOUT A 30 MINUTE PERIOD BETWEEN 400 PM AND 430 PM THIS AFTERNOON.

ADDITIONAL SHOWERS ARE IN THE AREA WITH MORE HEAVY RAINFALL POSSIBLE.
FLASH FLOODING OF STREAMS AND NORMALLY DRY ARROYOS IS POSSIBLE IN
MCKINLEY COUNTY DURING THE NEXT HOUR OR SO.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR HAS ACTUALLY
BEEN REPORTED..SO TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS IMMEDIATELY. REMEMBER..
MANY FLASH FLOOD DEATHS RESULT FROM MOTORISTS DRIVING INTO WATER-COVERED
CROSSINGS OF UNKNOWN DEPTH. AVOID THESE AREAS.
