FLASH FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT SMITH AR
718 PM CDT TUE SEP 30 1986

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING 
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1000 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY OF

ARK........WASHINGTON

AT 700 PM FLASH FLOODING WAS REPORTED IN SOUTHERN WASHINGTON
COUNTY.  COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTED WATER OVER SEVERAL PRIVATE
AND COUNTY ROADS AND BRIDGES.

MODERATE TO HEAVY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED OVER
NORTHWEST ARKANSAS.  THE HEAVIEST ACTIVITY WAS LOCATED SOUTH-
WEST  OF FAYVETTVILLE MOVING NORTHEAST AT 30 MILES AN HOUR.

FLASH FLOODING IS NOW OCCURRING IN THESE COUNTIES. SEEK HIGHER
GROUND AWAY FROM FLOOD PRONE STREAMS OR CREEKS.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO WADE OR DRIVE INTO FLOODWATERS! YOU MAY BE SWEPT
AWAY BY THE UNEXPECTED STRONG FORCE OF THE WATER.

IF YOU LIVE NEAR A FLOOD-PRONE CREEK OR RIVER..STAY ALERT OVER THE
NEXT FEW HOURS AND SEEK HIGHER GROUND IF HEAVY RAINS CONTINUE FOR A
LONG PERIOD OF TIME OR IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED.
