SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHOENIX AZ 1025 AM MST TUE JUL 15 1986 THUNDERSTORMS ARE OFF TO A QUICK START TODAY..PROBABLY A HINT OF A VERY ACTIVE AFTERNOON. AT 1015 WEATHER RADAR AND SATELLITE PICTURES SHOWED RAPIDLY DEVELOPING THUNDERSTORMS OVER NORTHERN AND EASTERN ARIZONA..SOME ALREADY SUGGESTING HEAVY RAIN AND GUSTY WINDS. THE STRONGEST THUNDERSTORM CELL WAS LOCATED NEAR GLOBE..MOVING SLOWLY TO THE NORTHEAST. MOTORISTS IN THIS AREA WILL NEED TO USE CAUTION FOR THE NEXT HOUR OR SO. OTHER RATHER STRONG CELLS WERE LOCATED NEAR THE NEW MEXICO BORDER FROM THE WHITE MOUNTAINS SOUTHWARD..AND NEAR WINSLOW. THE FLASH FLOOD POTENTIAL FOR THIS AFTERNOON IS HIGH FOR ALL @OF ARIZONA ..AND THERE IS THE POSSIBLILTY OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WITH POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WINDS.
