SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PITTSBURGH, PA 1020 PM EDT TUE JUL 28 1986 STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE MOVING ACROSS WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA OVERNIGHT. SOME COULD HAVE WIND GUSTS STRONG ENOUGH TO CAUSE DAMAGE OR ENOUGH RAIN TO CAUSE FLOODING. MOST BUILDINGS OFFER ADEQUATE PROTECTION FROM LIGHTNING AND THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS. MOBILE HOMES THAT ARE NOT ANCHORED ARE NOT. CAMPERS...IF A BAD THUNDERSTORM IS APPROACHING..YOU WOULD BE WISE TO SEEK SHELTER INDOORS. FALLING TREES ARE NO MATCH FOR A TENT. RAINFALL EXCEEDING 3 INCHES OVERNIGHT COULD CAUSE FLOODING. IF YOU LIVE IN A FLOOD PRONE AREA..BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR REPEATED HEAVY RAIN OR WATER LEVELS RAPIDLY RISING. NEVER GO THROUGH FLOODING TO GET HIGHER GROUND. THE WATER MAY BE DEEPER THAN YOU THINK AND THE FAST CURRENT COULD SWEEP YOU AWAY. THE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE MOVING THROUGH NORTHWESTERN PENNSYLVANIA UNTIL SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT. THEN THE STRONG STORMS WILL YMOVE THROUGH SOUTHWESTERN PENNSYLVANIA AND THE CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA MOUNTAINS IN THE HOURS BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND DAWN.
