THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING
EFFECTIVE UNTIL  500 AM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES:
 
IN SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA
          ..BRYAN

OVER THE PAST TWO HOURS..MIDNIGHT TIL 2AM..RADAR HAS INDICATED A VERY
STRONG THUNDERSTORM OVER WESTERN BRYAN COUNTY INCLUDING THE CITY OF
DURANT. THIS STORM HAS PRODUCED HEAVY RAINS AND HAS REMAINED
STATIONARY. COMPUTER ESTIMATES SHOW AT LEAST 2 INCHES OF RAIN HAS
FALLEN IN THE PAST 2 HOURS WITH THE HEAVIEST FALLING IN THE PAST
HOUR. RESIDENTS IN BRYAN COUNTY..ESPECIALLY WESTERN PARTS..INCLUDING
DURANT SHOULD BE ALERT TO RAPIDLY RISING WATER.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES, DIPS, OR LOW SPOTS1 IF WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM, EVEN A SMALL ONE,
ON FOOT.  TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
