SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OMAHA NE 845 PM CST SUN JUN 29 1986 HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS TO THE NORTHWEST OF OMAHA AND COUNCIL BLUFFS. AT 830 PM CDT HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS STRETCHED THROUGH EAST CENTRAL NEBRASKA ABOUT 70 MILES NORTH OF OMAHA TO NEAR GRAND ISLAND AND WERE MOVING SOUTHEAST ABOUT 35 MPH. CURRENTLY THESE THUNDERSTORMS WERE GENERATING LOCAL HEAVY RAINS AND WINDS TO ABOUT 45 MPH TO THE NORTHWEST OF OMAHA. 70 MPH WINDS WERE REPORTED NEAR COLUMBUS. THESE THUNDERSTORMS COULD REACH THE OMAHA COUNCIL BLUFFS ABOUT 930 PM. THESE THUNDERSTORMS ARE STRONG ENOUGH TO PRODUCE STRONG DAMAGING WINDS AND POSSIBLY HAIL ALONG WITH LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS. THESE THUNDERSTORMS HAVE PRODUCED AS MUCH AS 1.95 INCHES IN AN HOUR IN NORTHEAST NEBRASKA EARLIER. LOCAL FLOODING OF STREETS AND SMALL STREAMS AS THE LINE WORKS THROUGH.
