943 PM CDT FRI SEP 26 1986

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM 
WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1045 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING 
COUNTY OF

WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN...EAU CLAIRE

AT 940 PM A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS INDICATED BY RADAR OVER
SOUTHWEST EAU CLAIRE COUNTY OF WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN.  THE
ROOF OF A HIGH SCHOOL IN EAU CLAIRE AND POWER LINES WERE DAMAGED
BY STRONG WINDS FROM THIS SEVERE THUNDERSTORM.  SOME CITIES
INCLUDED IN THIS WARNING ARE EAU CLAIRE...AUGUSTA...AND ALTOONA.
MOVEMENT WAS TO THE NORTHEAST AT 40 TO 45 MILES AN HOUR.

REMEMBER SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE STRONG DAMAGING WINDS..LARGE
HAIL AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING STRIKES. ALSO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN
AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE A TORNADO WITH LITTLE OR NO ADVANCE
WARNING..SO BE ON THE LOOKOUT AND BE PREPARED TO MOVE TO A PLACE OF
SAFETY IF ONE IS SPOTTED.
