SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT AND RADAR SUMMARY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PENSACOLA FL 1235 PM CDT SUN AUG 17 1986 AT 1230 PM CDT...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS, SOME VERY HEAVY, WERE CLUSTERED OVER THE COASTAL SECTIONS AND UP TO 20 MILES OFFSHORE BETWEEN MOBILE BAY AND PANAMA CITY. ELSEWHERE, SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS, SOME VERY HEAVY, WERE SCATTERED OVER THE GULF TO MORE THAN 90 MILES OFFSHORE BETWEEN GULFPORT AND PANAMA CITY, OVER SOUTHWEST ALABAMA AND SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI. RESIDENTS IN THESE THUNDERSTORM AREAS SHOULD BE ALERT FOR RAPIDLY CHANGING CONDITIONS AS DANGEROUS LIGHTNING, GUSTY WIND AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN CAN BE EXPECTED, POSSIBLY FLOODING STREETS AND LOW AREAS.
