SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MOBILE AL 120 PM CDT SUN AUG 10 1986 ...VERY HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING OVER SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI... AT 115 PM CDT THE MOBILE RADAR INDICATED A CLUSTER OF VERY HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS OVER JACKSON COUNTY MISSISSIPPI CENTERED ABOUT 10 MILES NORTH OF PASCAGOULA. THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHEAST AT 10 MPH. RESIDENTS OF JACKSON COUNTY MISSISSIPPI AND THE WESTERN SECTIONS OF MOBILE COUNTY ALABAMA CAN GET PREPARED FOR THUNDERSTORM CONDITIONS ...FREQUENT AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING..GUSTY WINDS..BLINDING RAIN AND POSSIBLY SOME HAIL AS THESE THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE TO PROGRESS TOWARD THE NORTHEAST. OTHER VERY HEAVY THuUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP OVER SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI AND SOUTHWEST ALABAMA THIS AFTERNOON.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MOBILE, AL. 435 PM CDT SUN AUG 10 1986 ...LINE OF VERY HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS WESTERN PART OF SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI... MOBILE RADAR AT 430 PM CDT SHOWED A LINE SOME 10 MILES WIDE FROM PICAYUNE MISSISSIPPI TO JUST WEST OF HATTIESBURG. THE STORMS WERE MOVING NORTHEAST AT 25 MPH. OTHER SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE WIDELY SCATTERED OVER SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI AND SOUTHWEST ALABAMA. PERSONS IN THE AFFECTED AREAS ESPECIALLY NEAR HATTIESBURG CAN EXPECT BRIEF FLOODING OF ROADWAYS DUE TO THE HEAVY RAINFALL..ELECTRICAL STORMS DUE TO THE LIGHTNING STRIKES AND STRONG GUSTY WINDS IN IN THE LOW 40S. ADDITIONAL STATEMENTS WILL BE ISSU>ED AS NEEDED.
