THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A TORNADO AND SPECIAL 
MARINE WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 730 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE 
FOLLOWING COUNTIES OF

NORTH CAROLINA...HYDE...EASTERN DARE AND AND ADJACENT WATERS OF 
 PAMLICO SOUND
...THIS WARNING ALSO INCLUDES THE ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS FOR THE
COUNTIES JUST MENTIONED

AT 630 PM EDT RADAR INDICATED A POSSIBLE TORNADO IN THE AREA OF
  STUMPY POINT AND NORTHEAST OF LAKE MATTAMUSKEET.

THE PROJECTED PATH OF THIS STORM IS OVER OR NEAR STUMPY POINT
ON MAINLAND DARE COUNTY. IN HYDE COUTY...NEAR THE COMMUNITIES OF
FAIRFIELD...SWAN QUARTER...AND ENGELHARD. ALONG THE OUTER BANKS
NEAR THE COMMUNITIES SOUTH OF OREGON INLET TO HATTERAS INLET.

THIS IS A DANGEROUS STORM...IF YOU ARE NEAR ITS PATH GET OUT OF
YOUR CAR OR MOBILE HOME AND FIND SHELTER IN A SUBSTANTIAL STRUCTURE
CLOSE TO YOU.  GO TO A SMALL INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR.
A BASEMENT IS BEST.  COVER YOUR HEAD.  REPORT ANY SEVERE WEATHER
TO THE NEAREST LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY FOR RELAY TO THE NATIONAL
WEATHER SERVICE.

MARINERS IN THE VICINITY OF THIS STORM SHOULD SEEK SAFE
HARBOR. IF A WATERSPOUT IS SIGHTED...MOVE AWAY FROM IT AT A RIGHT
ANGLE BASED ON ITS MOVEMENT.

WATERSPOUTS CAN MOVE QUICKLY ONSHORE AND CAUSE CONSIDERABLE
DAMAGE.

 THE STORMS ARE MOVING SOUTHEAST AT NEARLY 40 MILES AN HOUR.
