SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT AND KENTUCKY WEATHER SUMMARY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LOUISVILLE KY
1050 AM EDT WED MAY 14 1986

THUNDERSTORMS BRING MUCH NEEDED RAIN TO KENTUCKY

SEVERAL PERIODS OF THUNDERSTORMS TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY MORNING
BROUGHT MUCH NEEDED RAIN TO THE BLUEGRASS STATE.  THIS LATEST ROUND
OF THUNDERSTORMS WAS THE MOST WIDESPREAD OF THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS.
WHILE IT CERTAINLY WAS BENIFICIAL..SOME AREAS OF THE COMMONWEALTH
REMAIN VERY DRY.

MORE THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TODAY TO HELP MAKE UP THIS DEFICIT.
IN FACT SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS COULD REACH SEVERE LIMITS AS THE
ATMOSPHERE HEATS UP LATER THIS AFTERNOON.  HEAVY RAINS ARE ALSO
EXPECTED TO ACCOMPANY SOME OF THESE STORMS.

THE WET WEATHER WILL CONTINUE INTO THE WEEKEND AS WARM..MOIST AIR
REMAINS OVER THE LOWER OHIO VALLEY.  WEAK WEATHER DISTURBANCES WILL
CONTINUE TO MOVE OVER THIS AIRMASS TOUCHING OFF PERIODS OF SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS.
