EFFECTIVE UNTIL 605 PM EST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES:

AT 525 PM EST RADAR SHOWED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM OVER JOHNSON
COUNTY...20 MILES SOUTH OF INDIANAPOLIS.
THIS STORM WAS MOVING EAST AT 35 TO 40 MILES AN HOUR THE TOWNS OF
FRANKLIN AND WHITELAND ARE IN THE PATH OF THIS STORM.
IF YOU ARE CAUGHT OUTSIDE, SEEK SHELTER IN A STRONG BUILDING.
DAMAGING WIND, LARGE HAIL, VERY HEAVY RAIN, AND DEADLY LIGHTNING

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT AND RADAR SUMMARY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE INDIANAPOLIS IN 250 PM EST TUE JUL 8 1986 ...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM EST FOR MOST OF THE NORTH HALF OF INDIANA... AT 240 PM EST ISOLATED VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WERE DEVELOPING OVER PARTS OF WEST CENTRAL INDIANA. THE STRONGEST THUNDERSTORMS WERE JUST NORTHEAST OF TERRE HAUTE OVER PARKE COUNTY AND WESTERN PUTNAM COUNTY. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WERE DEVELOPING OVER THE INDIANAPOLIS METRO AREA. A REPORT WAS RECEIVED THAT TREE DAMAGE HAD OCCURRED JUST AFTER 230 ON THE NORTHEAST SIDE OF INDIANAPOLIS. THESE THUNDERSTORMS LIKELY CONTAIN HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND MAY ALSO BE ACCOMPANIED BY HAIL AND SPTRONG WINDS. MOVEMENT OF THESE STORMS WAS TOWARD THE EAST NORTHEAST AT 20 TO 25 MPH.
