THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 600 AM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY OF

SOUTHWEST LOWER MICHIGAN...IONIA.

THE EARTHEN DAM ON RAINBOW LAKE IN CLINTON COUNTY HAS FAILED. THE
FAILURE OF THIS DAM WILL CAUSE THE MAPLE RIVER IN IONIA COUNTY TO
RISE RAPIDLY. BY 300 AM..THE CITY OF MATHERTON IN IONIA COUNTY WILL
SEE THE RIVER RISE ABOUT 10 FEET OVER CURRENT LEVELS. THE CITY OF MUIR
IN IONIA COUNTY WILL SEE A RISE OF 6 FEET OVER CURRENT LEVELS BY 500 AM
EDT. IN LYONS..THE RIVER WILL RISE ANOTHER 4 FEET BY 700 AM EDT.

PERSONS IN IONIA COUNTY ALONG THE MAPLE RIVER SHOULD LEAVE FOR HIGHER
GROUND IMMEDIATELY.
