NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
613 AM CDT FRI SEP  5 1986
 
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1015 AM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES:
 
IN NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS
          ..COLLIN..DENTON

AT 0615 AM CDT RADAR INDICATED AN INTENSE THUNDERSTORM OVER THE CITY
OF DENTON MOVING EAST AT 15 MPH. THE DENTON POLICE REOPRT THE STREET
FLOODING UP TO THE BOTTOM OF CARS IS OCCURING AT OAK AND FRY STREETS.
THIS THUNDERSTORM HAS INTENSIFIED DURING THE PAST HALF HOUR AND
SHOULD PRODUCE RAINFALL AMOUNTS FROM TWO TO FOUR INCHES AS IT MOVES
EASTWARD THRU DENTON COUNTY INTO COLLIN COUNTY. IF YOU ARE IN A HEAVY
RAIN AREA EXPECT VERY INTENSE RAIN FOR AT LEAST AND HOUR UNTIL THIS
THUNDERSTORM MOVES ON.
 
 
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES, DIPS, OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM, EVEN A SMALL ONE,
ON FOOT.  TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
