000 TTAA00 KFSD 121956 SVRFSD MNC105-122030- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SIOUX FALLS SD 256 PM CDT MON MAY 12 1986 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 330 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY OF SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA...NOBLES SOME OF THE CITIES INCLUDED IN SOUTHWESTERN MINNESOTA INCLUDE WILMONT AND WORTHINGTON....OR 30 TO 40 MILES EAST OF SIOUX FALLS. AT 255 PM CDT RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM ABOUT 30 MILES EAST OF SIOUX FALLS NEAR THE CITY OF WILMONT. THIS SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS MOVING NORTHEAST AT 30 MPH. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF THIS STORM..YOU SHOULD GET TO A REI&NFORCED SHELTER. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM PRODUCES DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH..HAIL 3/4 INCH OR LARGER..DEADLY LIGHTNING..AND HEAVY RAIN THAT CAN QUICKLY FLOOD A LOW LYING AREA.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SIOUX FALLS SD 145 PM CDT MON MAY 12 1986 BETWEEN 100 PM AND 145 PM CDT AN INTENSE THUNDERSTORM QUICKLY POPPED UP JUST SOUTHEAST OF PIPESTONE IN SOUTHWESTERN MINNESOTA. THIS THUNDERSTORM WAS LIKELY PRODUCING BRIEF HEAVY RAINS...SMALL HAIL..AND GUSTY WINDS TO PERHAPS 40 MPH. THIS INTENSE THUNDERSTORM WAS MOVING NORTHEAST AT 30 MPH AND BY 230 PM CDT WILL HAVE REACHED THE AREA BETWEEN SLAYTON AND TRACY MINNESOTA. OTHER THUNDERSHOWERS WERE GATHERING STRENGTH FROM EAT OF BROOKINGS SOUTH DAKOTA OVER TO THE LAKE BENTON AREA IN THE SOUTHWESTERN MINNESOTA COUNTY OF LINCOLN. QUICK DEVELOPING THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER SOUTHWESTERN MINNESOTA FOR THE REMAINDER OF THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING AS A COLD FRONT MOVES SLOWLY THROUGH THAT AREA. KAPELA
