000 TTAA00 KAHN 170003 SVRAHN GAC139-170100- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ATHENS GA 800 PM EDT SAT AUG 16 1986 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 900 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY OF NORTHEAST GEORGIA...HALL AT 8 PM EDT, A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS INDICATED BY RADAR 10 MILES WEST OF GAINESVILLE. MOVING NORTHEAST AT 15 MPH. IF THREATENING CONIDTIONS ARE SIGHTED..SEEK REINFORCED SHELTER AND PREPARE FOR STRONG DAMAGING WIND..LARGE HAIL..VERY HEAVY RAIN AND LIGHTNING. REMEMBER THESE STORMS CAN OCCASIONALLY PRODUCE A TORNADO WITH LITTLE OR NO ADVANCE WARNING.

THIS LINE OF STORMS IS MOVING EAST AT 25 MPH AND WILL BE MOVING INTO THE NORTHWEST GEORGIA COUNTIES WHICH BORDER ALABAMA THIS EVENING. BRIEF HEAVY RAIN, STRONG GUSTY WINDS, AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING WILL ACCOMPANY THESE STORMS. PEOPLE IwN THE NORTHWEST GEORGIA AREA, ESPECIALLY IN COUNTIES ALONG THE ALABAMA BORDER...SHOULD BE ALERT AS THESE THUNDERSTORMS APPROACH FROM THE WEST.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT AND RADAR SUMMARY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ATHENS GA 735 PM EDT SAT AUG 16 1986 STRONG THUNDERSTORMS NORTHWEST GEORGIA AND WILL MOVE INTO THE WEST PART OF NORTHEAST GEORGIA DURING THE NEXT HOUR. THESE THUNDERSTORM ARE MOVING EAST AT 20 MILES AN HOUR. PEOPLE IN THE WEST PARTS OF NORTHEAST GEORGIA SHOULD BE ALERT FOR BRIEF HEAVY RAIN STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING. OTHERWISE WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS WERE NOTED OVER THE NORTH TWO THIRDS OF GEORGIA AND IN THE WEST PARTS OF THE CAROLINAS. RAIN WITH SEVERAL EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUED OVER NORTHWEST GEORGIA SOUTHEAST TENNESSEE AND EAST ALABAMA. MOVEMENT NORTHEAST 20 MILES AN HOUR.
