SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MACON GA 130 PM EDT SAT JUL 26 1986 ON FRIDAY..7/25/86..AT AROUND 4 PM EDT A SOUTH MACON MAN WAS KILLED BY LIGHTNING WHILE HE SAT UNDER HIS CARPORT. ACCORDING TO NEWSPAPER REPORTS LIGHTNING PASSED THROUGH THE MAN WHILE ON ITS WAY TO A METAL BED LOCATED INSIDE THE HOUSE. THIS OCCURRED IN SOUTH MACON A FEW MILES FROM THE WSO. MACON WEATHER CARRIED A THUNDERSTORM ON SURFACE OBSERVATIONS FOR THE PERIOD 326 PM EDT THROUGH 645 PM EDT. A STATEMENT ABOUT THE THUNDERSTORMS WAS ISSUED AT 410 PM EDT.
