000 TTAA00 KATL 092018 SVRATL GAC089-GAC151-092118- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ATLANTA GA 418 PM EDT MON JUN 9 1986 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 518 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES OF NORTHWEST GEORGIA...DEKALB HENRY AT 415 PM EDT A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS INDICATED BY RADAR OVER THE NORTHERN PART OF CLAYTON COUNTY. TENNIS BALL SIZE HAIL HAS BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH THIS STORM. WIND GUSTS TO 50 MPH HAVE ALSO BEEN ESTIMATED IN THIS STORM. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM IS DEFINED AS HAVING WINDS AT LEAST 58 MPH AND/OR HAIL 3/4 INCH IN DIAMETER OR LARGER. IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROUACHES...TAKE IMMEDIATE PRECAUTIONS.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MACON GA 225 PM EDT MON JUN 9 1986 AT 215 PM RADAR IN MACON SHOWED NUMEROUS SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTHCENTRAL GEORGIA. THE HEAVIEST WERE LOCATED BETWEEN VIDALIA AND FITZGERALD AND NEAR UNADILLA IN SOUTHCENTRAL GEORGIA... ALSO WEST OF MACON NORTH OF ROBERTA. MOVEMENT WAS NORTHEAST NEAR 5 MPH. THESE STORMS ARE PRODUCING BRIEF VERY HEAVY RAIN...DANGEROUS LIGHTNING STRIKES...GUST&Y WINDS...AND POSSIBLY SMALL HAIL. PEOPLE OUTDOORS SHOULD OBSERVE LIGHTNING SAFETY RULES IN AND AROUND THUNDERSTORMS.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MACON GA 340 PM EDT MON JUN 9 1986 AT 330 PM RADAR IN MACON SHOWERD NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS MOVING ACROSS CENTRAL GEORGIA. THE HEAVIEST WERE LOCATED NEAR MACON AND EXTENDED SOUTH TO NEAR COCHRANE IN BLECKLEY COUNTY. ANOTHER AREA OF SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WAS LOCATED FROM ABBEVILLE IN WILCOX COUNTY EAST TO NEAR RHINE IN DODGE COUNTY. MOVEMENT WAS TO THE NORTHEAST AT 15 MILES AN HOUR. THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL PRODUCE GUSTY SURFACE WINDS..DANGEROUS LIGHTING AND SOME SMALL HAIL AS THEY MOVE ACROSS THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON. PERSONS IN OR NEAR THE PATH OF THESE STORMS SHOULD REMAIN ALERT FOR THREATING WEATHER AND BE PREPARED TO MOVE TO A SAFE PL/ACE IF CONDITIONS WARRANT. JWB/1936
