FLASH FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DEL RIO TX
120 PM CDT THU AUG 28 1986

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 500 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY IN

SOUTHCENTRAL TEXAS...VAL VERDE.

AT 115 PM CDT THUNDERSTORMS WERE OBSERVED IN THE DEL RIO AREA. LITTLE
MOVEMENT WAS NOTED.

HEAVY RAIN..SMALL HAIL..STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND FREQUENT 
LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE WITH THESE STORMS. BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE 
FLOODING IN THE DEL RIO AREA.

AT 115 PM CDT BAKERS CROSSING REPORTED A RIVER HEIGHT OF 10.7 FEET.
HIGHWAY 163 AND FARM ROAD 1024 REMAIN CLOSED. WATER COMING DOWN THE
PECOS AND DEVILS RIVERS PLUS WATER RUNNING IN DRAWS HAS FLOODED
SEVERAL RANCH ROADS IN NORTHERN VAL VERDE COUNTY. SEVERAL REPORTS
HAVE BEEN RECEIVED OF MOTORISTS STRANDED IN NORTHERN VAL VERDE
COUNTY. AS THE WATER CONTINUES SOUTHWARD..ROADS AND LOW LYING AREAS
ARE SUBJECT TO FLOODING.

CAMPERS ALONG THE PECOS AND DEVILS RIVERS SHOULD BE READY TO MOVE TO
HIGHER GROUND.

AVOID DRIVING YOUR CAR DURING PERIODS OF HEAVY RAINS.  WASH OUTS AND
FLOODED ROADWAYS CAN PLUNGE YOU INTO LIFE THREATENING SITUATIONS.
MOTORISTS ARE AMONG THE LEADING FATALITIES IN FLASH FLOODS.
AUTOMOBILES ARE NO PLACE TO BE IN RISING WATER.
