THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 630 PM MDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES:
IN SOUTH CENTRAL NEW MEXICO
..CENTRAL OTERO
AT 215 PM MDT HEAVY RAIN WAS REPORTED IN THE CITY OF ALAMOGORDO. WITH
THE HEAVY RAINS OF THE PAST TWO DAYS ANY ADDITIONAL RAIN MAY CAUSE
FLASH FLOODING..ESPECIALLY IN LOW AREAS.
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES, DIPS, OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE EL PASO TX 200 PM MDT TUE JUN 24 1986 ...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FOR EXTREME SOUTHWEST TEXAS AND SOUTH- CENTRAL NEW MEXICO FOR THIS AFTERNOON... AT 200 PM MDT THUNDERSTORMS WERE DEVELOPING RAPIDLY THROUGHOUT EXTREME SOUTHWEST TEXAS AND SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO. THESE THUNDERSTORMS WERE DRIFTING SLOWLY TOWARD THE NORTHWEST AND MAY CONTAIN HEAVY RAIN CAUSING FLASH FLOODING. WITH THE HEAVY TCHAT HAS FALLEN IN THE AREA OVER THE PAST TWO DAYS ANY ADDITIONAL RAIN WILL CAUSE FLOODING TO OCCUR..ESPECIALLY IN LOW AREAS.
