AT 1030 AM... THERE WAS NO PRECIPITATION IN IOWA. THERE WERE STRONG THUNDERSTORMS IN SOUTHERN MINNESOTA. SOME OF THESE STORMS WERE WITH 30 MILES OF IOWA. HOWEVER..THEY WERE MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 45 MILES AN HOUR AND WILL NOT MOVE I NTO IOWA UNTIL 1230 PM. NEW DEVELOPEMENT OF THUNDER STORMS COULD BRING STORMS INTO THE STATE AT AN EARLIER HOUR. OBRIEN

<PQ< SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DES MOINES IA 1150 AM CDT TUE JUL 15 1986 RAPIDLY DEVELOPING THUNDERSTORMS MOVING INTO EXTREME NORTHERN IOWA LATE THIS MORNING. A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS HAS RAPIDLY DEVELOPED ALONG THE SOUTHERN MINNESOTA BORDER ALL THE WAY TO SOUTH DAKOTA. THE LINE OF STORMS WAS MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 35 TO 40 MILES AN HOUR. PEOPLE IN EXTREME NORTHERN IOWA FROM MASON CITY TOWARD ROCK RAPIDS SHOULD BE ALERT TO CHANGING CONDITIONS. REPORTS FROM SOUTHERN MINNESOTA HAVE INDICATED HEAVY RAINS AND STRONG GUSTY SURFACE WINDS FROM THESE STORMS. BOATING INTERESTS IN THE GREAT LAKES AREA SHOULD ESPECIALLY BE ALERT FOR FURTHER STATEMENTS OR POSSIBLE WARNINGS. FORSTER
