SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DODGE CITY KS 400 PM CDT SAT JUL 19 1986 THUNDERSTORMS..SOME POSSIBLY BECOMING SEVERE..HAVE MOVED INTO SOUTHWEST KANSAS FROM THE WEST-NORTHWEST. COUNTIES RECEIVING RAINFALL FROM THESE THUNDERSTORMS INCLUDE HAMILITON AND STANTON COUNTIES ALONG THE COLORADO BORDER AND KEARNY COUNTY. THE STORMS ARE MOVING SLOWLY TO THE EAST-SOUTHEAST AND ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE IN INTENSITY AND COVERAGE AS THE AFTERNOON PROGRESSES. SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DODGE CITY KS 433 PM CDT SAT JUL 19 1986 A BROKEN LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS..SOME VERY HEAVY..CROSSES SOUTHWEST KANSAS AHEAD OF A SURFACE COOL FRONT. THE LINE CROSSED THROUGH NORTHWEST FINNEY..KEARNY AND STATON COUNTIES ON INTO COLORADO. THE STRONGEST STORMS WERE 5-10 MILES NORTHWEST OF GARDEN CITY KANSAS BETWEEN HOLCOMB AND FRIEND KANSAS MOVING TOWARDS GARDEN CITY. VERY HEAVY RAIN REDUCING VISIBILITY TO NEAR ZERO SMALL HAIL AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING MAY BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE HEAVIER STORMS. PERSONS IN GARDEN CITY ESPECIALLY SHOULD STAY IN OR NEAR SAFE SHELTER AS THE STORM APPROACHES THEIR COMMUNITY ARRIVING WITHIN THE HOUR. NOLLER
