SUMMIT A 550 PM RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM 10 MILES WEST OF AKRON OHIO MOVING EAST AT 35 MPH. ONE INCH HAIL WAS REPORTED AT MEDINA OHIO. THESE [THUNDERSTORMS MAY PRODUCE LARGE HAIL.. SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CLEVELAND OH 345 PM EDT MON JUN 16 1986 A TORNADO WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR MUCH OF NORTHWEST OHIO UNTIL 830 PM. AT 330 PM WEATHER SERVICE RADAR SHOWED A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS FROM TOLEDO TO FORT WAYNE INDIANA. THE STORMS WERE MOVING EAST NORTHEAST AT 35 MILES AN HOUR. SINCE THEY WERE THREATENING TO INVADE THE WESTERN END OF LAKE ERIE A SPECIAL MARINE WARNING WAS IN EFFECT FROM MAUMEE BAY TO VERMILON UNTIL 515 PM. NO REPORTS OF DAMAGE CAUSED BY THESE STORMS HAD BEEN RECEIVED AT 330 PM, BUT THEY HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO RAPIDLY REACH SEVERE LEVELS. OHIOANS SHOULD REMAIN ALERT FOR STATEMENTS AND WARNINGS FROM THE WEATHER SERVICE. IN ADDITION.. A FLOOD WATCH WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING FOR ASHTABULA.. GEUAGA.. AND LAKE COUNTIES. < THE THUNDERSTORMS THAT ENTERED THE NORTHWEST PART OF THE STATE THIS AFTERNOON SHOULD REACH THE EAST LAKESHORE COUNTIES DURING THE EVENING. SINCE THE THUNDERSTORMS WILL PRODUCE HEAVY RAINS AND THE GROUND IN NORTHEAST OHIO IS ALREADY SOAKED THERE IS A THREAT OF RAPID FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS AND LOW AREAS. THE THREAT OF FLOODING IN NORTHEAST OHIO WILL END TONIGHT AS PRECIPITATION MOVES( OUT OF THE AREA. THESE STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT WEATHER IN NORTHWESTERN PENNSYLVANIA FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS.
