THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING
EFFECTIVE UNTIL  830 PM MDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES:
 
IN CENTRAL NEW MEXICO
          ..SOUTHERN LINCOLN

THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DEVELOPED THIS AFTERNOON OVER PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN
NEW MEXICO WITH THE RUIDOSO POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTING HEAVY
RAINFALL AND STREAMS RISING RAPIDLY DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON HOURS.
PERSONS IN SOUTHERN LINCOLN COUNTY SHOULD TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS
IMMEDIATLY.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES, DIPS, OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM, EVEN A SMALL ONE,
ON FOOT.  TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.

...VERY HEAVY RAIN IS MOVING ACROSS THE ALBUQUERQUE METRO AREA...

AT 1225 PM MDT RADAR INDICATED VERY HEAVY RAIN SHOWERS SPREADING WEST
OVER THE ALBUQUERQUE METRO AREA. THESE SHOWERS ARE HEAVY ENOUGH TO
PRODUCE CONSIDERABLE RUNOFF IN THE ARROYOS. MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED
TO USE CAUTION NEAR ARROYOS. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS ARROYOS IF WATER IS
FLOWING OVER THE HIGHWAY.

THESE HEAVY SHOWERS WILL MOVE OUT OF THE METRO AREA IN ABOUT ONE HOUR
BUT OTHER SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY.
