Mt. Bromo, within the Tengger caldera, is one of Java's most active and most frequently visited volcanoes. Around 25,000 villagers near Mount Bromo in East Java have lost their livelihood after recent volcanic eruptions destroyed farmland, killed livestock and crippled tourism. Nearby hotels reported damage to facilities.
