One person was killed by a falling rock at Simbar, 750 m from the vent near Timbang. Verstappen does not specify cause of death but reports 39 people killed at Butak. The Volcanological Society of Indonesia (VSI) plaque near Sinila crater lists 39 fatalities in 1928. (reference #9675)
