As described by the witnesses and shown in the videos found on the Internet, a few long waves came one after one, dragging cars parked along the beach. The NCEP reanalysis of atmospheric pressure and wind fields shows the development of an intense cyclone in the region (Fig. 19), with a very slow movement to the east, generating a long wind fetch that lasted for the entire day. Unfortunately, there are no sea-level data for this event (reference #13945)
