Reference #13945:
The meteotsunami that hit Araranguá Beach was associated with a strong wind and rain storm that caused many problems to the population in the region, including one death, according to the media reports. On the beach, there were no reported injuries, but significant damage occurred, such as car floods.
No sea-level data are available for this event. Atmospheric pressure and wind fields show the development and propagation in the southeastern direction of a cyclonic circulation system throughout the day of the event, generating areas of instability in the whole southern part of South America.
