In the same subduction zone, earthquakes of April 21 2013 generated near the coast of Lazaro Cardenas, Michoacan (Mw 5.9), April 18 2014 in Petatlan, Guerrero (Mw 7.2), and on September 8th, 2017 in Pijijiapan, Chiapas (Mw 8.2) (Jimenez 2018). The first two were generated by inverse faults while the third was generated by a normal fault. All of them caused tsunamis that were observed along the coasts of Mexico. (reference #12727)
