1935, July 19, 9:50 local time. There was a strong earthquake with source off the coast of Kashima Nada (Ibaraki Prefecture). It was accompanied by aftershocks and a weak tsunami, which was registered by the tide gauge at Onahama. The assumed travel time of the tsunami was 40 minutes to Choshi and 50 minutes to Ayukawa.
